The US army is the oldest of the services of the US
military. Army jobs generally deal with land
focused missions. As an army soldier one would be deployed to
the area of conflict and remain there until the conflict is satisfactorily
resolved or until peace and security is restored. Missions are
often long drawn out requiring the cooperative effort of many
people.
Military careers or army
jobs are not all about combat occupations. There are military
careers in administrative, construction, electronic and electrical,
engineering, scientific and technical occupations. Military recruiting
is done for health care personnel to treat and provide services
for man and women in the military. There are human resources development
specialists who recruit and place qualified personnel and organize
training. Specialists in military recruiting provide information
to young people about the US military
and explain regarding army jobs opportunities,
training, pay, benefits and about military life.
There are about 2.5 million people in the United States who are
in service of the armed forces. While more that 1.4 million people
serve full time, in the active service of the army, navy, Marine
Corps and air force, more than 1.1 million serve in the military
reserve of these services.
While about 500,000 personnel serve in the army, some 377,000
have navy jobs. While 85% of all
military jobs consist of enlisted personnel,
15% are officers. While the primary missions of the navy are accomplished
by sea, missions are also accomplished by air and land. The navy
navigates all the oceans in the world to create an atmosphere
of peace and stability and also endeavors to make the high seas
safe for travel and trade. Navy jobs
are a great opportunity for people to travel since the navy has
legions and operates in over 100 countries, including the U.K.,
Germany, Italy, Bahrain, Brazil, South Korea, Australia, Afghanistan,
Iraq, and Japan. For individuals who want to lead largely civil
lives, however, there is the option of joining the military reserve.
If you join the reserve with prior service, chances
are you may be able to enjoy the same rank and rating as when
you were on active duty and you won’t require returning
to boot camp.
